Chester--first boy of Emma and big brother corgi to Mason

2016

WISHING ALL OUR SPECIAL CORGIS AND THEIR PEOPLE A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY AND SAFE NEW YEAR! HARD TO BELIEVE WE'RE KNOCKING ON THE DOOR OF 2017! WOW!

Merry Christmas from the Fontaine's and TANNER in McKinney, TX

And Ho-Ho-Ho from Santa Sully and Mama Lauren

Jarrod and Stephanie sent a great update on little Zoey, whelped in the spring of 2016. He and Stephanie, and big brother Willie live in Texarkana, TX and report that Zoey is the "quintessential corgi, she's a total ham who loves to make noise and get reactions out of everyone around her."  Hey corgi-lovers, sound familiar?  Jarrod wrote that she was a little stand-off-ish the first three months, but since then she "insists on touching us or being within arm's lenght of being pet at any given time."  He adds, "She loves rough-housing and herding her brother around the house, but he loves it too so we just enjoy watching.  She also developed this awesome sable color we totally weren't execting but love--she's actually perfect."

From left to right top row of pics:  Zoey on 2nd day at new home; trolley ride with grandparents in Hot Springs, AR; Zoey and Willie on 2nd day at home (note Willie towers over baby Zoey...); Bottom Row: Zoey at 6 mos at frisbee tournament with Jarrod; portrait at frisbee tournament; and finally--"who's biggest now???" Jarrod says that Zoey no longer loses wrestling matches with Willie.  Poor guy :)

So does it really snow in North Dakota?  Evidently it does, deep! Alex and Lindsay came to the farm and picked out Thor when Alex was stationed at Barksdale AFB in Louisiana. Since then, they've added a little two-legged boy named Johnand transferred to North Dakota.  Though the snow drifts are higher than Thor and young John, Alex is on hand to keep their heads above the depths, while mommy takes the pictures! Nothin' goes together like snow and boys!

Well, Lauren and Sully broke out of the mold again this year for Halloween fun.  They went (see picture of the month on the home page) as lovely Belle and the Beast.  Here are more pics to enjoy of the handsome "couple" just before tricks and treats.

><>

Jenn and Scout enjoy the California sun -- looking good!

><>

I love finding pictures of Walter the NYC Corgi on Instagram! Here are some recent offerings from this gad-about-town in the big city.  Final picture was professionally taken.  What a handsome tri!

><>

Sully is pictured below as he "does his therapy dog thing" in Houston with mama Lauren.  He is close to completing his required service to be certified!  The first picture was a ministry at Halloween.  Sully donned his jailbird costume for the event, and HORRORS, he was finally nabbed by the coppers.  Looks like his remorse got a smile from the great policeman on duty! The next picture of Sully and his buds in the back of a pickup truck was his participation in food for needy dogs in the Houston area.  It's like a people food bank, but, obviously for dogs. Lauren is leading Sully into some wonderful communiity service opportunities.

So great to hear from Justine in Houston and see current pictures of that not-so-little anymore Archie.  Justine writes, "Thought I’d send along some recent Archie photos now that he is 10 months old! He is such a handsome little boy! Great personality and very protective of me.  We always get stopped on walks by people saying what a gorgeous little boy he is. Hope everything is going well." Archie bears an amazing resemblance to Sully in Pearland -- cousins only, but look-alikes for sure!

><>

Emma and Zach reminesce about Chester's puppyhood.  What a cutie corgi he was, and he's WAY handsome now! Last picture of Chester and a little TV time.  Just chillin'....

><>

Erin writes:"...our little baby Leica is doing amazing!  She is the sweetest girl ever and very energetic.  She gets along great with her big brother Zebco, they love each other very much.  She just turned 6 months so she is scheduled for her spay surgery next week."  The pictures Erin sent are PRECIOUS.  She really favors her sire Rooney and is identical to her littermate Walter now living in NYC!

><>

Ed writes from Colorado that Tally, two years old, is helping him through the loss of Tally's big sister Twist.  Tally will try her "paw" at being a big sister some time next year when Ed adds another RFC puppy to their family.  Pictures left to right: Twist, Tally, and Ed meet for the first time; gorgeous Tally;Tally's TV time; Ed's Christmas card featuring Twist and Tally.

Sully turns two years old and celebrates BIG! Thanks Mama Lauren for the birthday cookie and cake! After the festivities, Sully naps with BFF George the kitty.

><>

Lauren welcomes fall pasttimes--posting, "drinking a glass of wine, watching college football, and working on a wreath with my best boy's [Sully, of course!] help...it's starting to feel like it's almost fall, y'all--and WAY TIME to cheer on them Aggies!

Ryken hangs with Frodo over Labor Day. Great way to say goodbye to summertime!

><>

Lots of summer fun to post of our corgis and their hot days antics!  Enjoy!

Cody and Kellie sent summer update and pictures of Tanner.  What a cutie!  Kellie writes that Tanner has been "such a big story in our lives."  He has never met a stranger and is a favorite of everyone through a big move from house to apartment while their forever home is built.  He's in a training class (SUCH a GOOD IDEA, folks!) with another corgi.  Cody and Kellie are plugging into a DFW area corgi meet-up group.  Tanner is "super smart...has the biggest personality of a dog I've ever been around...we love him dearly...Thanks...for doing what you do."

><>

Pebbles is SO PRETTY.  Look at these cute pictures from Samantha:

><>

Yuki is also doing well. Jennifer reports, "He is responding well to positive and reward-based training...he is a good boy and wants love, so he's gotten better with the biting since he's realized he gets ignored when he bites.  I think his bladder is getting a lot stronger, so the potty training is going great.  He hates baths though!"

><>

Maud updated us with this picture of "the kids."  Happy summer! Arlie is the little tri taking first spot with mom!

><>

Aubre and his best boy corgi Aubie enjoy a ride in the Razr.  Probably headed to the fishin' pond! Whoa there! Alexander and Gavin take over the Razr and Aubie. Sorry, Dad!

><>

Sully has had a SHARK of a summer with lots of doings there in Pearland! Sully "swims with the fishes" and survives...

Da boys look over a lush summer lawn, Chief and Sully are just waitin' for the action to start.

Sully and Kody doll up to celebrate the 4th of July!

Grandad Mike celebrates a birthday with a big shrimp boil -- ooooh those gulf shrimp -- want some, Chief and Sully?  I KNOW they got their share!

;

Why is Kody movin' in with Sully "in the doghouse?"  Oohhhh, I get it.  Lauren took the bar exam, and, after weeks of intense study, thought Kody might surprise her with a get-away. Kody came through and Lauren got some R & R.  However, Sully wasn't invited. Uh-oh. He has only the stink-eye for his mom when they got back.  Poor Sully, he's never learned he's not human!

   ><>

Katy adopted Winston in 2009 as a single woman living in Shreveport.  "Tiny Win" as he is now known (that boy loves his food!), made way in his heart for a dad.  Katy married this summer in a lovely ceremony -- and Tiny Win was right in the middle of the fun!

><>

Jenn posted these adorable pictures of the twins and gorgeous Scout.  Too sweet! And what a picnic girl that Scout is!

><>

Zoe is recording Rhythm 'n Blue's (a/k/a "Blue") first year on instagram.  This is one cool (not to mention pampered) corgi girl!  From little bitty to 8 months, Blue at home:

To infinity and beyond!!    Go Blue!

><>

Emma gives us a glimpse into the life and a new mommy and her boys. First, Mason gets a little tummy time with Chester--ever the perfect corgi-sitter.  Then, Emma says her laundry-folding is on hold until Chester rests up after Mason-watching. A corgi's work is never done. (But Emma, I feel you!)

><>

Ryken snapped this gorgeous picture of Frodo lounging in the East Texas blooms. Handsome Frodo!

><>

And then, well, there's Walt the Corgi, living the largest life possible in the Big Apple! I think parents Stewart and Kali are enjoying their little black-headed tri boy.  And he is thriving in NYC!  Enjoy the montage of pictures telling Walt's story on instagram:

Walt sports an amazing ear-span, and it was quite the project to get him into his up-ears.

Now really, Walter, I know not every corgi gets a "birth" mark in such an interesting place. Yeah, yeah, we're impressed!  What a clown ;)

><>

Christine sent me to her doggy daycare website to see this featured pic of Moxie the Corgi and Camille the Chicuacua.  Pretty Moxie girl!

><>

Maud sent a picture of Arlie and new big brother Alphie.  Maud said she loves Alphie and is a great puppy.

><>

Amanda writes from Louisiana that Riley Mae is adjusting to her new family and "loves to play with our other puppy, Ruby.  Amanda writes, "They have become best friends! [Riley Mae] loves to sleep through ut the day and through the majority of the night" Amanda took Riley to the vet for her boosters and she weighed in at 8 pounds 12 oz!  Amanda (and WE) love Riley's sweet little face that is so like her sire, Rooney.  She loves being outsie but is not fond of being held, dried off, baths, or barking neighbor dogs.  Note: Riley has achieved one "up ear."

><>

Latest news and pics from Andrea.  She absolutely LOVES that little Rhiannon, and what a gorgeous little corgi she is!

Fun in the hot Texas summer.  Annette shared a video of her Daisy playing in (with?) the waterhose. I captured these stills from the video...cools me off just watching Daisy play.

><>

Justine sent an update on Archie! She says he's the "sweetest little boy, but with such a big personality!"  Everyone who meets him just loves him.  He's made the trip from Austin to Houston several times to visit his 'grandparents' and his 'Aunt' Sierra...While he is a little shy of starngers still, once he gets to know someone they are his best friend, especially when treats are involved! He is such a joy..."  Enjoy the handsome pics of this little guy. Picture on top left is Archie laz-ing in mom Justine's lap, then right a gorgeous picture of Archie in the bluebonnets. Bottom left shows a very dapper Archie in his bowtie with, on the bottom right is a great picture of collie and corgi -- Aunt Sierra plays pillow to little Archie.

Oh my goodness! That little Walter, just two months old, has made his great big journey (via American Airlines) to the BIG APPLE.  Mom Kali and Dad Stewart are so happy with Walt.  Is that the cutest face and tushie ever?

Kali writes:

Just wanted to let you know that Walter's first day in the Big Apple went great.  He was a little timid at first, but in a few short hours was happily playing, eating and napping.  He is already a hit around the neighborhood and in our building...! Everyone loves him and stops me on the street to ask what kind of dog he is and exclaim how cute he is!  He was great on our walks, and really has the best temperament.  He slept through the whole night in his kennel (snuggled on his mom's towel) and didn't make one peep.  I was so impressed!

He is absolutely the perfect dog, and we are so excited and in love with him! We could not be more pleased with this whole process.  You and Candy were so professional and kind throughout the entire process, and we really appreciate it.

...I will work on getting the Park Ave and Central Park pictures over the next week...and...will send you pictures as I collect them of Walter around the city...

Thanks for those most kind words, Kali!  We are thrilled to hear how well Walter is doing!

Lea writes from Louisiana that the family -- and Oskar -- are making preparations for the big move home to Finland. Is Oskar hiding out to avoid being "packed?"

><>

Sully wishes Lauren congratulations on her graduation from Law School. Mom Debbie's birthday was somewhat ecliipsed by Lauren's big day, but Sully remembered her and let Lauren share her grad cake (heard it was YUMMMMMEEE...) with Debbie.  Such a considerate corgi, that Sully! Friend Shannon (personal friend of Rothrock Farm's Rooney) is pictured with Lauren. Then Mike and Debbie, proud parents, and very special guy Kody. THEN THE CAKE!

><>

Andrea and Miss Rhiannon are getting along famously! What a happy, happy little corgi--not to mention adorable! Cuddles with Mom and car rides with Dad.  What a corgi life!

><>

Robert and Jeanne sent pictures of their Bella getting to know new little fluff ball Barclay.  Barclay may not know he's little!

><>

Cynthia and Tamara shared Buster and Ki'a'i's five year birthday.  Seems like yesterday they were brothers out of Copper and Murphy, setting out on a journey to new moms in Washington state.  Looks like they're loving life ....  and a banana split birthday treat!  Watch that waistline, Ki'a'i!  (Buster is the tricolored corgi, Ki'a'i is the red).

><>

Caitlin and Kyle sent a great picture of their family in the bluebonnets this spring.  Ooooooh! And, of course, Elsa's two-year-birthday portraits!

><>

Wes and Mel sent this oh-so-usual picture of Wes and Forrest, he's five years old! Hard to imagine.  I remember him running around my kitchen, being a puppy pill, of course--I called him Spanky! Forrest is a much more fitting name for a grown-up handsome corgi!

><>

Heather sent Gus-at-home pictures of his adjustment (looks like a natural) to his new family.  Gus is pictured with his dad, his boy, and looks like he's giving a push off for the jeep!  Too cute! Then there's that puppy-chewing thing ;)

!

Beth IS SO proud of her Mr. Darcy on his first birthday! HANDSOME!

The Beale's had quite a night with Nip this spring. I received a phone call from the police department in Highland Park, asking about a found corgi which they had scanned and traced to me. (Those microchips WORK!). I looked up the microchip number in my records and found that it belonged to Nip.  I quickly tried to call Amy and let her know where Nip was. I couldn't reach her by phone (she later explained they were out looking for Nip the Adventuress). I sent an email letting her know what I knew, and word that I had given the police department their contact information.  Later that night, I received this note from Nip herself:

"Sorry, Mrs. Carolyn! I'm ok! I was out back one last time before bed and I saw the gate was open, so decided to go on corgi patrol. All is well in the neighborhood, and some nice neighbors a couple of blocks away let me hang out until the cops came. My vet will get a call tomorrow b/c they were supposed to update my chip about 2 yrs ago! Thx for being there for me. I'm home, cozy and safe.

 Xoxo, Nip.

P.s. Mom tried to get a "guilty" pic, but I wasn't Winking face

Emma and Zach wrote to catch us up on Chester's progress as their main corgi, now big brother to their main baby, Mason. Emma reports that Chester is SO SWEET with little Mason, protective and watchful.  BTW, when Chester is on break from babysitting, he still enjoys a cuddle with mom and a good movie!

><>

The Smith's, with their Aubie, recently made a huge move from Ft. Worth to East Texas.  Aubie appears to be adjusting quite well--as long as he can catch a nap in his kennel!

><>

Sully and Lauren are up in arms over their visit this year to the Easter Bunny.  Sully was so excited as he rode in the cart, full of corgi anticipation to see his old friend Rabbit again.  But what?!  Is this the REAL Easter Bunny? Sully says that rabbit was the ANGRY BUNNY.  Poor Sully, he was afraid to sit on his lap and wouldn't look him in the eye. Yikes!

Bethany and Moxie DO CHRISTMAS! Just look at Christmas present fun with Bethany and Moxie -- looks like Moxie can't believe ALL the presents aren't for her!  Bethany is SO patient with her little corgi sister, and Moxie hangs close. Last picture is of Brad's girls:  Christine, Bethany, and Moxie.

Lauren writes that she was out-of-town over part of the holidays, and left Sully in the care of Grandpa Mike and Grandma Debbie.  Sully made himself right at home with Mike at bedtime :) BUT, he was glad when momma Lauren got home and he could return to "his own" bed!

><>

><>

Sully and his best buddies, of the four-legged kind.  Hanging with Chico and boating with Chief.

><>

Lauren took Sully to talk to Santa, and Sully made quite the fashion statement in a dashing green holiday tie.  And just gaze upon the style of the boy on Christmas Eve. First Lauren caught him with his socks on (before they were hung on the mantle with care), then THE Christmas portrait. Sully is the bomb -- and the handsomest of the handsome!

><>

Moxie and Bethany get in the spooky spirit for Halloween.  Christine had a hard time catching Beth with her eyes open, while Moxie, the little corgi ham, has no problem posing for pics!  I thought the pumpkin was a blow-fish (I know, lame?), but Christine said it was just the perfect way to do a pumpkin without getting her hands in goooooooo.

><>
Hello, convict-corgi!  Sully WON the law school costume competition, and donations were made in his name to two worthy canine rescue organizations.  It's just a little scary, Lauren, that those stripes look so natural (?) on Sullivan!

Taylor snapped a pic of Aubie staring.....at what? I dunno -- maybe Taylor's "holy" jeans?

><>

Sullivan Ross Morgan a/k/a Sully, took a moment on his birthday (I may be making this part up) to hear the history of the great man he was named for from Lauren.  The first Mr. Sullivan Ross was a Texas governor, and his bronze statute resides on the campus of Texas A & M University.  Aggie students have a tradition of placing a copper penny on the statue for luck as they go in to take exams.

September, 2015

Happy birthday, Lauren!  Sully and his grandparents treated Lauren with exactly the kind of birthday cake she wanted!  Quite the celebration, but Lauren said Sully couldn't understand why all the attention was NOT on HIM! Lauren took some time to get ready for Christmas yard decorations -- these are big!  And SO CUTE!

><>

Ryken of Van posted these pics of Frodo on Instagram and FB.  Nothing like a boy and his corgi!

It's SO good to hear from Ginger, San Antonio, and have news of Lola and her 1st birthday doings!  Ginger writes, "It has been a happy 1st birthday for Lola here in San Antonio!  I took her and toby for their daily walk around the neighborhood, and sh is a happy and VERY energetic puppy!  She got a new toy for her birthday, which she has been chewing at all evening...This past year has been great, even with her digging up the potted plants (no cucmbers or bell peppers from my container garden)...watend to thank you for everything!"

><>

Charlie Sharrah is 1 year old!  Barbara celebrated and reflected on her times with her handsome tri corgi, writing, "Happy Birthday, Charlie!  He is truly a blessing to me.  After the passing of my husband, Larry, he has given me a reason to get up out of bed.  Being so active has kept me active.  He will not let me forget our walks!  And, most of all, you can't help but smile and laugh every day!"

><>

Tracey, Arkansas, sent an album of pics of Cooper!  He looks exactly like sire CJ, and, by all accounts, his a "hot mess" like his dad as well! Pictures below show Cooper trying out all the new spots he can find in his new home and getting acquainted with tri-colored Dawson, another "daddy" look-a-like out of our Copper and Murphy. WAY handsome corgis! Tracey says, "Hope all is well with you, Carolyn, and thanks again for such a beautiful puppy. We just love him!!!!"

Remembering Charlie

We've have to say good-bye to another sweet corgi boy, out of Cocoa and Collin, and owned by Linda in Houston. Linda writes:

I'm sending this message to you with a heavy heart.  My sweet, sweet Charlie went home to doggie heaven yesterday.  There was a horrible accident with my neighbor pulling in her driveway, and we are grief-stricken beyond belief.  I want you to know that I can't ever replace my beautiful Charlie, but did everything I could to save him.  Our veterinarian and surgeon did everything possible, but it was just to much for him.  Please pray for our family and know I can't thank you enough for giving us the greatest joy of our life.  He's in the arms of an angel now.

><>

Dora writes from Miami about Angus.  Seems he underwent "the surgery" this month.  Didn't really love the head cone, but recovered nicely from the procedure.

><>

Lauren and Kody sent pictures of end-of-summer fun with the boys, Chief and Sully. Enjoy the great pictures!

Chief on the big bird hunt -- whatta lab!

Sully lookin for dem birds....

Trip to Gulf Shores, Alabama -- Sully crashes in the car after all that sun and surf.

Last trip to the beach...Sully in shades and already getting sleepy by the end of the block! Then the boys pause running in and out of surf to pose for pics...

Sully does have some down time at home in-between his and Lauren's adventures. All ready for the Aggie game, then an amazing portrait of Sully by mom Lauren, the perfect smile after catching some bagel bits mid-air tossed by grandmommy Debbie, and a sweet corgi snuggled up with his Teddy Bear after a long hard day at home!

Lauren sent "then" and "now" pictures of Sully and Chief.  What cute buddies!  Lauren also sent a video of Sully with Chico (his favorite feline) -- hilarious -- wish I could post here.  In the video, Lauren and mom Debbie "encourage" Sully to "pet the kitty."  Sully nudges and mouths Chico, who is NOT IN THE MOOD!  Sully barks and moves in and out to "pet" Chico, as dad yells from the next room to stop all that commotion in the kitchen! I guess only I heard him. No one in the kitch stopped their noisy shenanigans--Sully certainly continued his BARKING!! And he looks so angelic in his pictures...

In Memory of Harley Quinn

David sent this note, reporting a terrible attack that has taken the young life of precious little Harley. Born in April, 2015, Harley was one of Copper's last litter, and adored by David and his family.

     He writes,

It is with a heavy heart that I write to you today to inform you that Harley Quinn died this afternoon. Our awful, awful human being of a neighbor allowed his large bull terrier to escape. The dog had no leash or collar, and it attacked our poor Harley. She was on her leash in our front yard, and we literally had to pry her out the other dog's jaws. We rushed her to the pet hospital, but she died on the table. We are currently pursuing legal action against the neighbor, and civil action should the need arise.
We are completely devastated. We loved and cherished Harley. She was one of the happiest and purest souls we have ever met. She was a good girl, and an amazing dog. We are so sorry that this happened. We wish we could have protected her better. We wish she could have had the long and happy life she deserved. However, for the brief time she was with us, know she was loved with all our heart, and she touched the lives of everyone she met.

We are so sorry, David, and grieving with you over the tragic loss of Harley.

Emma and Zack have EXCITING NEWS!  First, Chester is ONE YEAR OLD!  And, drum roll, please, there's a new baby coming in January, 2016.  I don't think Emma has convinced Chester he'll soon be a new big brother, but he'll get the idea in just a few months.  Congratulations!! Pictures include the announcement of Baby Barnes, birthday presents for Chester, swimming in Austin, and chilling at home.  Chester isn't too spoiled, huh?

><>

Brad and Christine sent a family portrait on the occasion of Moxie's graduation from puppy classes.  Brad looks surprised, but proud.  I'm not sure Christine believes it! HA! Second picture is Moxie crashed out on her back -- resting up, I'm sure, from all that obedience.....

><>

David sends news and pictures of Harley Quinn, who is coming when called and nicely getting into her kennel on command.  David reports that she picked up leash and harness training very quickly and already accompanies the guys (and Yurei) on walks.  A few kinks remain in the potty thing, but David is sure she's finally getting it.  All the vet techs have to come see her when she goes to the vet for her boosters, and has gone with Brent to his dog-friendly office.  She looks GREAT and LOVES her new big brother Yurei.

Lauren holds fast to her feeding program for Sully (?), but when she ordered Chik-fil-a, he couldn't believe she didn't order for him!  This picture of Lauren's knees and Sully's restrained face -- priceless!

Jessica writes from Pineville LA, that she caught this classic moment between Liam and Ruxin.  That Ruxin is a saint of a corgi tolerating and patiently loving her growing human brother Liam. Well cutest ever.  Remember the second picture? Liam had just arrived home from the hospital and Ruxin gave him a welcome corgi kiss. Awww...too sweet.

Christine and Moxie recently took a trip to the doggy store.  Notice how wonderfully perfectly Moxie is behaving in the cart?  She is a vision of obedience, and she's making mom Christine look REAL good.  AND THEN (nothing good ever follows those words "and then") she went wild.  She bolted against the tie down, and as all toddlers do, embarrassed her mom to death!  Oh well, Christine was just thankful she was able to save Moxie from hanging herself on the strap!!  That MOXIE!

OH BOY! Lauren got Sully a swimming pool!!! The video is priceless, but I think Chico steals the snapshot contest.  Chico, "You mean you're adding WATER???? NOOOOOOOOOO! PLEEEEZZZEEEEE! NOOOOOO! Sully, however, enjoyed the wonder of wading pools.  You can't imagine how he fetches a bumper in a big swimming pool!

What a picture of patriotic-ness...Sully celebrating the Fourth of July Independence Day by sporting a dashing, festive flag bowtie.  That Sully loves loves his country and proudly wears the red, white, and blue. On the right, Sully is enjoying a rare moment of peace and calm. What a dog!

Our dear Copper, mom of many Rothrock Farm Corgis announces her retirement to a life of fun and leisure in Louisiana with the Rabe family.  It was SO hard to let Copper move on, but she's is loving her new life with Pam and Ollie, her new younger brother.  Pam writes that Copper is becoming playful with Ollie, and she loves watching them play.  Copper and Ollie use a doggy door to go in and out whenever they "feel the need."  Pam says Copper is REALLY liking that door!  Pam put the two in a two-dog lead and took off for a walk.  Copper and Ollie caught on super fast and just trot along as if they had been in "tandem" for life.  We have missed our sweet Copper, but news of how content she is warms our hearts!  Love you Cop....

Beth writes that Mr. Darcy is settling in nicely with their family in North Richland Hills.  Cousins Ty and Baylee stop by often to play, and it looks like that Mr. D has taken over the couch, found a favorite pillow, and battles the duster whenever Beth cleans!  Look at the sneaky "I'm not really here" peeping over the step!  Then he's dying to play with his cuz, but it looks like he got more of a tussle that he though!  That last picture is TOO CUTE!  Corgis at the door...LEMME IN, WEE-OOOO!

Annette sent a picture of little Daisy with new big brother Goober.  They're checking each other out!

Jill writes that Luna completely enjoyed her first birthday and wants us all to have a "supercalafragilistic" day!  Luna has her own facebook page -- named Luna and Zoltan the Corgwn.  Jill is loving her Luna, and that just thrills us! What a pretty corgi (CJ and Daisy litter 2014)!

Zippy, now over seven years old, has been nominated for the AKC A.C.E. award for dogs of excellence.  As you may have read in earlier issues of the Gazette, Zippy is a corgi hero for alerting owners Gil and Shay (Houston) about a dangerous backyard fire when she was much younger.  She is a hero times two for alerting Gil to intruders at their back door with weapons, saving him from a certain break-in and possible physical harm.  We'll hear in August, 2015 about her standings in the contest and are HOPING she will be a winner!  Gil reports that Zippy has been an excellent companion and they love her dearly.  "She still," he says, "loves to break out into a run around the house, loves to play hide and seek (one of us will hide and she will rund through the house until she finds us...), tug-o-war with her toys, and her all time favorite is swimming in our pool anytime we have a dip or pool party.  She loves to sit between Shay and I on the couch..., loves to go in the car with Shay for a ride, and chase squirrels in our back yard.  She is a favorite at the vets office and PetSmart where she goes for monthly grooming to always look her best."  What a great report from Gil and Shay and Zippy the Super Corgi!  Pictures show Zippy in the pool and sitting with grandson on the steps of the pool.  Note the sweet little boy hand on Zippy's back.

Bethany and Moxie: A Girl and her Dog (credit to Christine!).  The girls are getting used to each other and enjoying being together.  Christine reports that Moxie is doing well with "sit" and "come," working on "down," and Brad is teaching her to roll over.  First three pictures show Bethany on the back porch with a Moxie and a smile!  Next are pictures of Moxie playing and crashing.  The last picture is of Bethany sharing school time with Moxie.  Can you BELIEVE how EXCITED both girls look? Davy Crockett Kennel Club hosted it's members and the Crockett community with their first DOG WALK.  It was a blast!  Candy and I took Murphy, Rooney, and Chloe.  Lauren met us there with Sully.  Shannon came along to wrangle the Rooney and enjoy the day!

Shannon watches wrong-way Rooney with right-way Sully; right-way both boys; Rooney makes a friend while Sully patiently looks on; Sully and Lauren meet Sparky the Firehouse Dog

Chloe, Candy's gorgeous sable (sire Collin/dam Callie) cautiously takes part--shown with Murphy in third picture.

The games begin:  Sully finds the treat duck in the bobbing pan; Chloe and Rooney try their hand at bobbing; Rooney plays the wheel of treats game, finds the treat, and opens the door while Chloe cheers him on; then a couple of pictures of Candy chatting with another DCKC member while the pups "compete"

The last game we played was "ease on the lead." Lauren and Sully played, and Murphy and I played, too. Pictures are of the figure eight field which had to be negotiated while owner held a potato in a spoon, the lead and dog--all in the SAME HAND!  YAY for Sully and Murphy! They both did a super job of walking on the lead, and Lauren and I made it to the end without dropping the potato!

Final pictures of the fun day in Crockett show Rooney and Sully modeling FANCY collars and leads by Shaggy Chic Designs; Sully stacked; Rooney's heart bottom; and the remnants of muddy pawprints on Candy's jeans.  A great day was had by all!

Meet Bethany, a special young girl who lives in the metroplex.  She and her mom and dad are eagerly awaiting the day when Moxie, one of our newest Rothrock Farm puppies, can come home to stay!  Mom Christine writes, "I wanted to send you a few pictures of Bethany so that you could see how she is involved in preparing for her lil' puppy.  I wish you could meet her in person because pictures do not reflect how beautiful she is and what a sweet, sweet spirit she has...In the first picture she is lying on her therapy table looking at the 2 week picture of her little puppy. In the second picture she is sleeping with her current "puppy" and I think she is dreaming of the real puppy coming our way.  In the last picture, I think the look on her face says, 'Mommy, enough with the corgi books already!'  By the way, her hands were cold is why she has socks on them.  We were not rrying to make a fashion statement!"
When I asked Christine if I could post Bethany's pictures, she said to feel free to do so.  She added, "I was thinking about how all of your little puppies go to so many different families, all with different lifestyles, and how eac
h puppy goes on to have such individual adventures and purposes in their little lives.  Our lil' pup is going to have a very unique adventure too!  And, I assure you that she couldn't find a home with any more love to offer than she will find in ours.  We don't even have her yet and she's touching  our lives. We put together her exercise pen last night and I've bought her a couple chew toys.  Brad is thinking of things to do in the backyard for her.  Bethany's nurses are so excited they can hardly stand to wait...This puppy is going to be a very special companion for my very special little girl...She is a child with special needs and right now her special need is a puppy!"

Now we've met the rest of Bethany's family!  Christine and Brad came out to Rothrock Farm to meet  Moxie in person.  We had a sunshiny day, breezy and beautiful.  The puppies were outside for the first time -- on the porch until the ground dries, and Moxie got her feet on grass for the first time!  A great time was had by all.  We enjoyed getting to know this special couple, and are anxious to take little Moxie to Burleson to meet Miss Bethany in just a few more weeks!

Winston is 6-years-old!  It's hard to believe, but Winston celebrated his 6th birthday recently and has the hat and candles to prove it!  Katy said Winston (see picture far left) wasn't exactly thrilled with about blowing out his candles, and when Katy blew them out on his behalf, he freadk out, backed off the bench, and fell backwards onto the floor!  She noted, "He is quite bottom-heavy :)"  He soon recovered, however, and was begging at Katy's feet for his piece of birthday cake!

Katy and Winston have a new family complete with a special guy Kelly and three kiddos!  All love "Tiny-Win" as Katy calls Winston lovingly, and Win loves them all right back.  He's won over Kelly, previously not-a-fan of dogs, but then corgis aren't really dogs (are they???).  Win and Kelly ride "up-front" on their way to doggie-daycare at gmom Jan's (a/k/a Mo-Mo) every morning.

In Memory of Googie...

Lauren sadly wrote that Googie, her feline best friend since 3rd grade, died on December 26, of an unexpected illness.  Googie was 17 years old, and Lauren believes that Googie held on...taking care of Lauren until Sully's arrival.  Lauren says, "...Sully was an angel--laying by my feet and looking at me so sweetly...Sully never seemed to leave my side--he followed me absolutely everywhere and was always licking me and consoling me and laying on my feet.  Sully's actions and prayer helped me realize the Googie was waiting on Sully...a suitable replacement to take care of me, and she passed the torch to Sully to be my guardian.  Sully sticking with me and refusing to leave me was his way of telling me that he was trying to do the job that Googie left him, as if saying 'I know I'm not Googie and will never be Googie, but I'm going to take care of you now Mom.'"  Lauren went on to say that she knew getting a corgi would be everything she dreamed of, but she would never have guessed he would have the impact on her life that he has -- at only 3 1/2 months old.  She added, "Sully allowed Googie to go to Heaven because she knew I would be okay and Sully would take care of me...and to think that WE take care of our ANIMALS." I agree Lauren.

Linda P, a member of our waiting list, sent the following note about her son Austin, their first corgi William, and the wait for her new puppy:
I wanted to share a sweet story with you. Almost fifteen years ago, my oldest son  Austin was 10 years old when he decided he wanted a Corgi.  I’d never met a Corgi before so I told him he’d have to do the research and find out about the breed to make sure that it was the right dog for us. He did the research and showed me what he’d found.
It seemed too good to be true, but the dog show was in town, so we went to “Meet the Breed”. We were both convinced after meeting several corgis and their owners, so our search bega, and I quickly found out that corgis are not that easy to find and they were expensive. I shared the news with Austin that I wasn’t sure we could spend that kind of money and they were hard to find, but he was determined. He made a jar with Corgi pictures on it and started saving his money. About 9 months later he’d raised most of the funds (through allowance, birthday gifts and raking leaves) and we found his Corgi--William.
This Christmas, Austin’s gift to me was a decorated jar “Puppy Fund” filled with the money for our new puppy.  I was so touched.  He said he had tried to find a puppy but knew I’d been talking to you and thought we should stick with a breeder we trusted. We’ve all missed William this season, I have bells on my front door that use to drive him crazy when the mail was delivered through the mail shoot.  He would sound the barking alarm to let us know the mail was here. My little boy--now 24 soon to be 25 was gifting me with his hard earned money for a new puppy.
I just checked your website yesterday to see the puppy’s updates. I loved seeing and hearing about the families and their new fuzzy family members. I can’t wait.

And, a Very Merry Christmas from Sully and Lauren in Houston.  The Sully Christmas Story goes from  a ride in a shopping cart, to sitting on the old elf's knee.  Lauren said when Santa asked, "What would you like for Christmas, Sully?" THE HOLE , A Puppy Story

Early on a cloudy morning on Rothrock Farm, puppies went outside to exercise in their pen.  They really loved this time of day--running, romping, and chew-chew-chewing. Mistress C walked out the front door,  and the puppies were crazy-glad to see her.  They did not appear to hold it against their mistress that she had put a big microchip needle in their skin, poked a pill down their throats, clipped their nails, and, finally, had given them some sweet-tasting medicine.  But, I digress from our story.

When Mistress C appeared on the porch, puppy Sully, with the others, rushed to the side of the pen and jumped and squealed to see her.  She noted, however, that Sully's nose looked dirty and there was dirt on his newly groomed feet, nose, face, and back.  Hmmmm, she muttered as she gazed about the pen, "I believe I spy a hole!"  She snapped at once to the fact that Sully was the culprit who had dug a hole!  A DIGGER, oh no! As Mistress C watched, Sully sneaked to the hole to guard his prize.  When he thought the coast was clear, well, you guessed it, HE DUG! Then as Mistress C quietly stood to see what would happen next, Lola -- yes dainty little Lola -- joined Sully!

They took a little break to check on Charlie at the fence, and what do you know!?  Charlie had a brown nose, too! Tally stood back as if to say, "My name's Bennett, and I'm not in it!" Gatsby non-chalantly looked away to distance himself from the illicit doings, while Tally continued her protestation of innocence as if to say, "I saw no evil!"

With attention diverted from THE HOLE, the kids broke into tag team wrestling each girl taking on a brother.  Sully, always in charge, refer-eed the match wearing the most innocent look ever seen on Rothrock Farm.

Sinclair and her cousins made Thanksgiving visits to Rothrock Farm.  She worked hard to help the puppies eat!.  Xander, Gavin, and Taylor played like crazy with the puppies and did a great job socializing them.  Mama Copper joined in and did some manners training with her brood! Joyce Maas in Kansas City bought Tucker, a VERY handsome tri corgi pup now three years old.  She had plans at the time to train him to be a therapy dog. She reports,

"He has Rally and Obedience titles through AKC, and we are working on advance titles now.  I have had 6 prior corgi's over 30 years, but I think this one has the strongest herding drive of all.  He herds the ducks ont he pond every day and gives the squirrels a run for their money, along with the "feral cats" in the neighborhood, and he can untie your shoest in a minute.  He loves to play ball and is the best retriever ever...he still likes to play in the water bowl if I don't catch him.  He swims in the pond more than any dog I have ever had, and I tell people he is part water spaniel...He has a wonderful disposition...loves everyone--dogs and people--but cats, not so much.  I am hoping to certify him as a therapy dog in the spring if all goes well."

SO GOOD to have this news of Tucker.  I'm awaiting pictures of him as an adult, but thought I'd post some of his puppy pictures!

Youngest, Hayes, seems to provide all the snacks Nip needs, and Amy reports that she takes her "high chair" cleanup duty VERY seriously.  Note picture on the left is Nip at 8 weeks, center Nip at 8 months (in front of same bench), then Hayes looking surprised at Nip's interest in her morsels -- sure!  That little girl has already figured out what to do with those carrots!

Cole writes from College Station that Hurley has seen her through a rough few months, and now both are READY for the holidays.  While Hurley is not too sure about the creative jack-o-lanterns on Cole's porch, he seem right a home with pumpkins and a dip in the lake!  He has mastered basic obedience commands including "howdy" (paw-shake Aggie style, and "kiss" (he touches his nose to Cole's nose).  He's still working on "come" and "wait" (definitely a corgi guy!!!).  Cole says, "His absolute favorite thing...is his pheasant toy.  I tied a toy pheasant to the end of a horse lunge whip and swing it around while he chases it all over the backyard.  He tries to herd it!...hilarious!...He is such a blessing, and God definitely sent him to me at the perfect time!"

Zippy Kellirose, Super Corgi Saves the Day--AGAIN!

A few years ago Zippy saved her family in Houston from a fire in their backyard by raising a Texas-size ruckus at the backdoor--alerting Gilbert and Shay to the danger outside.  Now, once again, Zippy moves into action to alert and protect way more than the backyard, this time her master, Gilbert!

Gil writes:  "Well, our sweet corgi Zippy has saved the day again. I was home getting ready for an appointment with Zippy at my side. I thought I heard our neighbor's car door shut (I was in bedroom on their driveway side), and, within 5 to 7 seconds Zippy started barking and ran to our den. Noticing that she was barking strangely...and  as she continued to bark  for another minute or two, I left the bedroom to see what she was barking at.  I discovered that she was barking at two strangers (one armed with a 12” combat knife and the other with a pry bar)  in my back yard, trying to break into our home!! Needless to say, I drove them off; however, without Zippy our beloved Corgi, it could have been a different story if they had caught me off-guard in the bedroom!  She is very brave and nothing short of a Super Corgi! God bless her!  The two juveniles were caught by the police, but, unfortunately, had discarded their weapons before they were caught.  Only trespassing could be charged against them."
